Dear all, Earlier this year, The Ministry of Transportation and Communication stated that "electric bicycles" will be renamed to "mini electric two-wheel vehicle", and they are scheduled to be officially licensed and implemented in November. The principle of applying for a license for a mini electric two-wheel vehicle is divided into two categories: license for a new vehicle and application for a vehicle in use before the implementation of the new law. But no matter which type of license you are applying for, the documents required to obtain the license are as follows: 1. Vehicle owner identification document 2. Seal 3. Vehicle origin certificate and safety inspection certificate 4. Compulsory Automobile Liability Insurance, etc. According to the changes to the law, those who drive the mini electric two-wheel vehicle without a license shall be fined between NT$1,200 and NT$3,600. Qualified electric bicycles purchased before must obtain and install the license plate within 2 years after the implementation of the new law. Violators shall be fined up to NT$3,600. In addition, the Ministry of Transportation announced that if a personal vehicle is driving on the express lane, a fine ranging from NT$2,000 to NT$2,600 shall be imposed, and in case of an accident, the maximum fine is NT$3,600. The local government may announce regulations such as designated driving sections, time, speed limit, etc., and violators can also be fined up to NT$3,600. The relevant fining regulations are still being announced, and it is expected to be effective from November 30. In addition, the owner of the vehicle should also purchase Compulsory Automobile Liability Insurance in accordance with the regulations. If the vehicle is not insured, the Motor Vehicles Office will not register, change or issue a license for you.
