活動說明 Language: English - Abstract: Recent studies suggest that multinational corporations (MNCs) that originate from developed markets purposefully pursued CSR activities in the host emerging economies to build political connections with the state and external stakeholders. Community outreach activities through philanthropy donations and sponsorship programs are common approaches for MNCs to improve their reputations in the host communities as well as enhance political legitimacy. The recent financial crisis gave rise to a heightened protectionism sentiment in many countries. The COVID-19 pandemic further intensified the anti-globalization movement as cross-border activities increase the risk of spreading the virus in the local communities. However, the CSR activities conducted by MNCs, such as forming the public-private partnership to reduce outbreaks, can help the local community cope with the public health risk and in turn, help MNCs navigate the geopolitical risk.
